NYPD captain transferred after viral rant bashing ‘embarrassment’ Mamdani, Democrats: ‘Not my mayor’

A blunt NYPD captain who badmouthed Zohran Mamdani as “expendable” and “not my mayor” in a viral video has been transferred out of the spotlight, officials said.

Capt. James G. Wilson, 51, was shipped from the 94th Precinct — where he served as the second-highest officer for the station house covering Greenpoint — to the NYPD’s 911 call center in the Bronx, according to officials.

The transfer came after Wilson was captured on video blithely bashing Mamdani during a heated weekend protest outside a Bushwick hospital. He’s also facing potential discipline for flouting a prohibition on cops expressing political views while on duty, officials said.

“He’s expendable, he’s temporary,” Wilson said in the video, as protesters egg him on by pointing out Mamdani is his boss.

“Nah, he’s total nonsense. He’s an embarrassment and total nonsense,” Wilson scoffs, cracking a smile. “Not my mayor.”

A still-smiling Wilson later in the clip goes on to diss all Democrats as “waste of human race.”

The video emerged as one of several controversies swirling around the chaotic late May 2 demonstration outside Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where anti-ICE protesters got wind that immigration agents had taken an illegal Nigerian migrant for medical attention.

Nine protesters were arrested after a tense standoff with cops who responded the growing mayhem.

Many of Mamdani’s lefty supporters accused the NYPD of illegally aiding ICE at the hospital — an assertion that the mayor denied.

Wilson was apparently among the cops deployed to handle the protest, where the video showed him sparring with agitators over politics.

He had recently transferred to the 94th Precinct in April, records show. He joined the NYPD in July 2006, meaning he’s nearing 20 years with the force and potential retirement.

An NYPD spokesperson said Wilson remains on active duty after his transfer to the Bronx.

The captain’s disciplinary process remains ongoing, the spokesperson said.
