Rabble-rousing Staten Island artist and activist Scott LoBaido suffered a cardiac arrest emergency after he attempted to confront Mayor Zohran Mamdani at a pro-cop event in the borough Tuesday night — in which the socialist mayor was mercilessly booed off stage.
LoBaido, who’s been openly critical of Mamdani, tried to approach the mayor after his remarks at the Midland Beach boardwalk for the NYPD’s 43rd Patrol Borough National Night Out Against Crime — but was held by police, a witness told the Staten Island Advance.
Soon after, LoBaido voiced that he wasn’t “feeling well” and collapsed on the ground, the witness said, prompting emergency personnel to immediately jump into action and begin performing CPR.
LoBaido began breathing again and was provided with oxygen as he was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to Staten Island University Hospital.
“I thought he was gone,” the witness said. “They really did a good job.”
LoBaido, 61, suffered cardiac arrest and was listed in critical but stable condition Tuesday night, an SIUH spokesperson told the Advance.
He posted a photo of himself in the hospital flipping the bird that same night on Facebook, where he has more than 1 million followers.
“Tonight, at the National Night Out event in Midland Beach, our friend Scott LoBaido collapsed after suffering what appeared to be a medical emergency,” South Shore Council member Frank Morano wrote in a social media post.
“Emergency personnel used a defibrillator, and Scott was alert as he was being taken by ambulance to the hospital. I’m told he’s receiving excellent care.”
LoBaido — who has become famous for his political artwork, stunts and outspoken support of President Trump — posted a video on social media before Tuesday’s pro-police celebration bashing Mamdani’s hiring freeze of 5,000 NYPD officers.
Standing in front of a painting showing the mayor blowing up New York City, LoBaido claimed Mamdani “humiliates and diminishes” police officers and “puts all cops’ lives in danger.”
Mamdani, wearing a big grin, drew loud jeers and a barrage of profanities from attendees as the Democratic socialist made his way up to the podium at the National Night Out Against Crime event, social media videos show.
He spoke for less than a minute, wishing Staten Islanders a “Happy Night Out Against Crime” before being whisked off to the side.
LoBaido made headlines last year for blocking speed cameras by planting flowers in front of them.
The artist and activist’s other alleged stunts include hanging “Trump Crossing” signs in Manhattan and releasing 100 pink, penis-shaped balloons outside the downtown courthouse while President Trump’s hush money trial was taking place.
The conservative provocateur was also cuffed back in March 2024 for allegedly tossing pizza over the gates of City Hall in protest of a plan to ban coal- and wood-fired pizza ovens in Big Apple restaurants.
