Shooter accused of gunning down pro skateboarder ex-girlfriend is dragged into court in suicide gown

The man accused of fatally shooting his former girlfriend, a one-time professional skateboarder, and her neighbor before leading police on a freeway chase was hauled into court Wednesday wearing a suicide prevention gown after a judge ordered him to remain behind bars.

Robert Galtman, 48, appeared before a judge, who revoked his bail in connection with last week’s deadly shootings in Pomona. Galtman allegedly led police on a chase after gunfire erupted near Monterey and Garey avenues in Pomona.

Prosecutors have charged Galtman with two counts of murder and one count of evading police.

He also faces a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders.

His arraignment was delayed until July 21.

Authorities say Galtman killed his former girlfriend, Veronica Lopez, 24, and her 48-year-old neighbor, Richard Brady, before fleeing, setting off a multi-agency freeway pursuit that ended with his arrest.

Family members said Lopez and Galtman had been in a relationship colored by domestic violence for about two years.

The heartbreaking discovery of Lopez’s death unfolded in real time for her loved ones, who unknowingly watched the aftermath play out on live television.

“We were watching the chase after it was live and my mom noticed the car and the dog that they rescued. We called Pomona police and they confirmed it with fingerprints that it was my sister Veronica,” her sister, Klarissa Lopez, told ABC.
