Cops have locked down Six Flags Magic Mountain after reports of a bomb threat.
Deputies responded to the amusement park around 7:55 a.m. after receiving a threat call involving the park in Valencia, California, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. California Highway Patrol officers were also called in to assist sheriff’s deputies with traffic control and securing entrances to the park.
“We are aware of the police activity at the park and are currently monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities,” the theme park said in a statement.
The park was “cleared and safe,” the sheriff’s office confirmed to the Californian Post just before noon.
The theme park had not yet opened to the public at the time of the call. Officials said deputies were conducting a sweep of the park grounds as a precaution.
Employees who were inside the park were evacuated during the investigation. Authorities also shut down the main entrance on Magic Mountain Parkway as well as the employee entrance near Sky View Lane and Feedmill Road during the response.
The park operates from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm. The park remained closed well past its scheduled opening time Monday morning as deputies continued their investigation and search of the property.
Authorities have not said whether any suspicious items were discovered, and no injuries have been reported.
It was immediately not clear on who reported the alleged threat. Officials said the leads were not credible and it was only one cal.
Aerial footage from the scene showed multiple sheriff’s vehicles positioned near the entrance while deputies searched the property. Video from local television helicopters also appeared to show an armored sheriff’s vehicle and a fire engine on scene as law enforcement swept the amusement park grounds.
It was not immediately clear who reported the alleged threat. Officials said the leads were not credible and that there was only one call.
