Six Flags Magic Mountain suddenly closed due to mass power outage

A power outage forced Six Flags Magic Mountain to abruptly close Wednesday morning.

“Six Flags Magic Mountain is currently experiencing a power outage. Our teams are assessing the situation and working to restore operations as safely and quickly as possible,” the self-proclaimed “Thrill Capital of the World” said in a statement posted on social media. “We appreciate your patience and will share updates as they become available.”

Park officials said they were working with Southern California Edison to resolve the outage and safely restore power.

Magic Mountain said rides the park is not expected to resume operating until at least 1 p.m. Wednesday. It was unclear what caused the outage.

Further updates are expected as crews continue working to restore service.

The outage marks the latest disruption at the Valencia theme park in recent months.

In June, a brush fire erupted beneath the park’s iconic X2 roller coaster, scorching about half an acre before Los Angeles County firefighters quickly contained the blaze. No injuries or structural damage were reported, and the park remained open during the incident.

Earlier this year, Magic Mountain also shuttered much of its popular Bugs Bunny World as it underwent a major transformation into the new Looney Tunes World, forcing the temporary closure of several family rides while construction got underway.

It was not immediately clear whether Wednesday’s power outage affected all areas of the park or if any guests had to be evacuated from attractions after the electricity failed.
