Skeletal remains were discovered in a vacant Manhattan brownstone where a homeless veteran was reportedly living, according to reports and authorities.

Officers stumbled upon the skeletonized body after responding to a call at the building on East 115th Street between Second and Third Avenues in East Harlem around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the NYPD.

A representative for the building owner first found the bones while checking on the three-story, vacant row house, Gothamist reported.

A 311 complaint from last year also claimed the building was an abandoned drug rehabilitation facility where a homeless veteran had been camping out for at least two years, according to public records first reported by the outlet.

It’s unclear how long the building has been vacant.

The Medical Examiner’s office is now conducting a forensic examination to confirm the identity of the remains.

An investigation remains ongoing.
