A Southwest flight made an emergency landing at LAX Friday after an engine-related warning.
Flight 3396 was diverted while traveling from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport to San Jose Mineta International Airport, touching down in Los Angeles shortly before 12:30 p.m., according to the FAA.
Southwest credited its crew with handling the situation safely.

“The Pilots followed established procedures and landed the aircraft uneventfully,” the airline said.
Passengers won’t be continuing their journey on the same plane. Southwest said it would arrange another aircraft to get them to San Jose.
What exactly triggered the engine-related maintenance alert remains a mystery.
The airline did not immediately provide details about the warning, leaving the FAA to investigate what prompted the midair diversion.
