Third Burning Man festivalgoer dies — as sheriff laments rise of deaths during 40th anniversary

A third Burning Man reveler has died during the festival’s 40th anniversary, officials confirmed.

The festivalgoer, who has not yet been publicly identified, died while being rushed to a hospital in Reno —  about 120 miles away from the event grounds in the Black Rock Desert, KRX12 reported.

“Although we average 1 death a year at the Festival, we have had two so far this year within the confines of the Festival and I have received information regarding a third who died in transit to a hospital in Reno,” Jerry Allen, Pershing County sheriff and coroner, told NBC News in a statement.

The person’s cause of death was not immediately clear.

The third fatality comes after two men died on the festival campgrounds last week.

Craigh Mann, 60, was found dead in his trailer Saturday by his campmates at the annual nine-day-long event at Black Rock City in Nevada, officials confirmed.

On Thursday, a man in his mid-50s, identified as Sampson Tshombe, died after he was found on a street within the festival and given CPR, according to KRX12.

Tshombe died inside Rampart, the festival’s temporary hospital, the outlet reported.

While foul play is not suspected, both bodies were sent to Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and toxicology screening.

The results could take six to eight weeks, officials said.

Burning Man previously said in a statement that “our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the participant’s family, friends, campmates, and all those affected by this loss.”

“The safety and well-being of our community and staff remain our highest priority.”

The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office and Burning Man organizers did not immediately respond to The Post’s requests for comment.
