Asked about the risk of a US-China conflict over Taiwan, President Trump told reporters on Air Force One, “I think we’ll be fine.”
“He doesn’t want to see, he doesn’t want to see a war … Taiwan, he doesn’t want to see a movement for independence. He says, ‘Look, you know, we’ve had it for thousands of years, and then at a certain period of time [1949] it left, that we were going to get it back … but Taiwan, he feels very strongly.

“I made no commitment either way.”
Asked about the status of a tentative $14 billion arms package for Taiwan, Trump said: “I’ll make a determination over the next fairly short period” about whether to move forward with the deal.
