Trump rips AOC and Gavin Newsom as ‘incompetent’ after the Munich Security Conference: ‘Bad look for our country’

President Trump slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday for speaking at the Munich Security Conference, describing their appearances at the high-profile European forum as a “bad look” for the US.

“I watched AOC answering questions in Munich – this was not a good look for the United States,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, referring to the “Squad” congresswoman.

The president then took aim at the Golden State governor.

“I watched Gavin Newscum answering questions in Munich, and this was a bad look for our country,” he said.

“These two people are incompetent,” the president raged, “and at least Hillary is competent. She’s just Trump deranged.”

“She was so deranged,” Trump said of Hillary Clinton, describing her as an “angry woman.”

The president was likely referring to Clinton’s combative panel at the conference with Czech Deputy Prime minister Petr Macinka, who attempted to defend Trump’s policies but was constantly interrupted by the failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee.

Going back to Newsom and Ocasio-Cortez, Trump remarked: “I watched the other two speaking and answering basic questions … look, Gavin has destroyed California and AOC, I never really got to –  I never heard her speak very much.

“And they started answering questions … she had no idea what was happening. She had no idea how to answer, you know, very important questions concerning the world, but she can’t answer questions concerning New York City, either.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance at the Munich Security Conference, where she spoke on multiple panels, has been widely viewed as an effort by the 36-year-old congresswoman to build up her foreign-policy portfolio ahead of a possible 2028 White House or Senate run.

The far-left Democrat, however, has been mocked over a series of stumbles in Germany, including erroneously claiming that Venezuela is “below the equator”; sputtering over a question about what the US should do if China invades Taiwan; and struggling to articulate the biggest change Trump made to American foreign policy.

Meanwhile, Newsom’s appearance in Munich marks his third major international conference in the last few months, following appearances at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and a world climate conference in Brazil.

Newsom, who is also considered a possible 2028 presidential candidate, hammered Trump in Munich over climate policy, arguing the president is “doubling down on stupid.”

“Never in the history of the United States of America has there been a more destructive president than the current occupant of the White House in Washington, D.C.,” Newsom charged. “Donald Trump is trying to turn back the clock.”

A Newsom spokesperson told The Post that Trump is “on his knees for coal and Big Oil, selling out America’s future to China.”

“Governor Newsom will continue to lead in his absence. Foreign leaders are rejecting Trump and choosing California’s vision for the future,” the spokesperson added.

Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also spoke at the Munich conference over the weekend and has received “very good reviews,” Trump noted.

“Marco did a great job in Munich,” the president added.
