Two teen girls riding electric scooters were hit by a gray truck that fled the scene in Placer County last week.

Police rushed to Joiner Park in the city of Lincoln on Aug. 26 following a vehicle crash and discovered the badly injured girls. Both girls required urgent medical treatment and were taken to a local hospital.

Diliara Borisova, the mother 15-year-old Kseniia Borisova, said that the duo was riding the e-scooters on the sidewalk and not the road.

Kseniia sustained fractures to her leg and skull along with liver laceration, according to Borisova.

“They were driving on the sidewalk and passing by the entrance of the park and the truck was driving on the road and he just didn’t make a signal that he was turning, he just turned all the sudden. Just turned. And the kids, it just was not possible to stop,” Borisona told KCRA.

The injuries and condition of the other victim are currently unknown.

Borisova said that she wouldn’t want any other child to go through what her own daughter is experiencing and is urging the police to catch the driver and bring him to justice.

“That driver can do that again. To someone else, not only her daughter, because he just ran away,” she told the news outlet through a translator.

The department’s traffic unit is investigating the incident. Lincoln Police are searching for the driver of the truck, who fled the scene after striking the girls, and is expected to face hit-and-run charges.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any information regarding the driver can contact the Lincoln Police at at 916-645-4040.
