It was a lot more than drops of Jupiter.
Concertgoers at the Jones Beach Amphitheater had to run for their lives as thunderstorms swept over the waterfront venue Saturday, delaying a show by the rock band Train.
Videos posted online showed fans scrambling indoors as whipping winds, driving rain and lighting struck the Long Island beach, with the crowds huddling while waiting out the storm — at one point breaking into “Hey, Soul Sister,” one of the San Francisco-based band’s tunes.
“We’re live from the Jones Beach Amphitheater,” two concertgoers clutching to ponchos said in one Instagram post. “A half-hour delay, at least.
“We’re trapped,” one of them finally says.
Another clip shows gusting winds push a piece of stage equipment being pushed across the pavement as crowds can be seen cowering outside a local bar.
“I’m so glad we decided not to go & gravely disappointed people’s lives were at risk just to put on a show,” one commenter wrote. “This weather was expected & considering all the flooding in the area, travel was hazardous. Do better @jonesbeachtheater!”
Soaked fans are seen jumping and screaming in another video as lighting strikes nearby.
Patient concertgoers finally got their show, as the band, best known for the hit single “Drops of Jupiter,” took the stage after a delay, with Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies warming up the crowd.
The extreme weather wreaked havoc across the five boroughs, stalling flights at area airports and shutting down major expressways after heavy rains and frightening lighting swept in.
Flash floods also left streets in SoHo and other parts of the Big Apple underwater.
