A violent criminal on parole was charged with attempted murder for allegedly tossing an elderly woman onto Midtown subway tracks in a terrifying weekend attack, cops and sources said.
Zaki Smith, 36, was picked up by eagle-eyed cops during the Monday evening rush and charged in connection to the 11:30 a.m. Saturday attack at the 57th Street and 7th Avenue station that left the 70-year-old victim with a head wound, police said.
Smith — who has 14 previous arrests — was also charged with felony and misdemeanor assault in the senseless shove, authorities said.
Commuters who witnessed the attack heroically jumped onto the tracks and pulled the senior back onto the platform.
She was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, where she is being treated for the head injury, police said.
Smith was locked up in upstate prison on a Manhattan felony assault conviction from November of 2021 through May of 2025, when he was released on parole, State Corrections records show.
His post-release supervision is set to expire in 2030, according to the records.
His rap sheet also includes a May 2025 robbery of an MTA worker, in which he was also found in possession of FDNY work phones, the sources said.
His most recent arrest was on June 16 of this year — for allegedly stealing Lysol and cleaning rags from a Flatiron building that he used a service elevator to access, cops and sources said.
He was awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court Tuesday in connection to the subway shove.
