Vice President JD Vance dressed up as Albus Dumbledore and held his newborn son, who was costumed as Dobby the house-elf, in a short video he posted on X, wishing the country a happy Halloween.
Standing on a decorated porch in a long silver-gray wig, pointed hat, and matching robe, Vance said, “Vice President Dumbledore here with little Dobby the Elf wishing you a happy Halloween. Have fun. Be safe. Eat a lot of candy.”

Vance had previewed the costume days earlier during a Fox News appearance, explaining that his children are big Harry Potter fans and that the look felt natural.
“If you think about it, with the beard, the white hair, it’s kind of like fat, old JD, so I feel very comfortable in my Dumbledore costume,” he said.

This year’s choice is much different than his 2025 Halloween appearance, when he leaned into an internet meme by wearing a curly brown wig to play the “fat JD” character that was viral online.
