President Trump told reporters on Wednesday, while meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that the US is going to strike Iran again tonight after a wave of strikes on Tuesday.
“We’re going to hit them hard tonight,” Trump said, later adding, “They deserve it.”
This comes after the US launched attacks in Iran in response to Iran targeting several ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
Earlier, while meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump called off the ceasefire and memorandum of understanding. “To me, I think it’s over,” Trump said. “I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum,” he added, describing Iranian leaders as “sick people” and “vicious, violent people.” He added, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s just a waste of time dealing with them. They’re liars.”

When asked whether he expects to resume full-scale hostilities, the President told reporters, “They are behaving very badly, as they have for 47 years, and we hit them hard last night.”
“They launched a couple of drones and one rocket, one missile, at ships because they were in the Strait, which they have every right to be, and so we hit them very hard last night, very, very hard,” Trump said. “I’ll probably hit them hard again tonight. I’ll give them a little warning: We’re going to hit them hard tonight.”
He further slammed the Iranian regime for lying about talks with the US, noting that in private negotiations, “they’ll agree on everything,” but publicly, “they’ll go have a news conference and say we never even talked about it.”
“They’re cuckoo, there’s something wrong with these people,” he said.

Later in the press conference, Trump doubled down, telling reporters, “Normally I wouldn’t tell you,” but “there’s not a thing they can do about it, so the answer is probably.”
“They deserve it,” he said.
