World Cup fans hit by another stealth charge for matches — and it’s astronomical

FIFA World Cup fans who are already bleeding cash to attend games at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles will have to fork over an insane amount just to park outside the arena.

The cheapest parking for the first match between the US and Paraguay on June 12 costs an eye-popping $151, according to the official parking partner for the FIFA event.

Adding insult to injury, the lot is located more than a mile away from the stadium, or about a 21-minute walk.

There’s also parking at the stadium itself, but a spot will run fans a staggering $300. And even that’s not close, with a 12-minute walk to the games.

On top of that, parking passes aren’t available for purchase the day of matches and must be prepaid.

For fans unwilling to open their wallets, there’s an option to park via the app ParkingWhiz.

It features several high-cost options, with the cheapest running $47.73 — but that requires walking a full two miles to the stadium.

Los Angeles officials have encouraged fans to get to the games via public transportation through its “Go Metro to World Cup” promotion.

“Ride Metro bus, rail or regional transit to a direct service pick-up location near you. No reservation needed,” the LA Metro website states. “Drive to a park-and-ride location, park your car and take a direct service bus to the stadium. Walk up or get dropped off at a location.”

The city will provide a bus service to the stadium from a variety of locations across the city hours before the matches. The cost of a fare is just $1.75, and the list of the pickup locations can be found here.

On top of the high cost for parking, soccer fans are shelling out big bucks to follow their teams, especially those who don’t want to miss any action from the Group Stage to the finals.

Following the US Men’s National Soccer team from the West Coast to New York is estimated to cost two fans around $63,000, according to analysis from AceOdds.com.

Tickets prices make the bulk of that budget, with a princely price tag of $34,000.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off on June 11 between Mexico and South Africa in Mexico City. The tournament will take place over six weeks in 16 different cities across Mexico, the US and Canada.
