There is hope Mets fans. No, not for this year, but for 2027.
The Mets’ odds to make this year’s playoffs via Fangraphs fell from 0.2 percent Monday to 0.1 percent Tuesday and as of Wednesday can be rounded down to 0.0 percent, matching “Bluto” Blutarsky’s grade point average and fairly estimating their current despair.
Yet, all is not lost.
August actually brought a little hope. Between some valuable (and perhaps movable) assets acquired at the trade deadline and a couple rotation revelations (Zac Thornton’s surprising rise and especially Sean Manaea’s shocking rebound), their goal to contend next year is no pipe dream now.
