Aaron Rodgers is over talking about his family drama.
Despite the NFL quarterback inviting interest into his relationship with his family last month by posting photos of himself with them, he has no interest in continuing to discuss the topic.
Speaking with USA Today at Steelers training camp in Latrobe, Pa, he refused to further discuss his family, but did explain why he decided to publicly reveal that things had thawed between him and members of his family.
“I feel like it was part of the full-circle nature of this last season for me,” he said. “There’s been a narrative out there. There’s not been a lot of information that’s truthful about it. And I think that the personal life should stay personal and private.
“But I feel like it was part of the full circle to just one time post something, and never again. So that narrative can finally be put to rest.”
The rift between Rodgers and his family became public in 2016 after his brother Jordan was a contestant on “The Bachelorette.”
Since then, the rift between him and his family has been an ongoing narrative, which is what shocked many fans when he posted photos with his dad Ed, mom Darla and his older brother Luke.
The fence mending did not appear to extend to Jordan.
Rodgers later credited the reconciliation with his family to his wife Brittani, who has remained out of the public eye save for mentions by Rodgers during media appearances.
“I’ve been really staunch, going back to when there was a schism, that I feel like that stuff should be off limits,” he recently told The Athletic. “Now, not everybody in the family adhered to the same thing, but there are different things, situations, experiences, and people that actually change your life. So, when I say that my wife has completely changed my life, for the better, there’s no comparison to any time I’ve ever said those words before.
“She is the big impetus behind that (reconciliation). Not that she was pushing it, but just the way that she loves me and supports me, it’s allowed me to open up to that possibility. And it’s been a couple-year process of communication and spending time together, but that is a real blessing in my life to have those relationships back and to close that circle that was cut for so many years.
“With her by my side, we reopened that door, and it’s been really beautiful.”
