Raiders fans are wondering when Fernando Mendoza will take the starting quarterback job from Kirk Cousins.
Indiana Hoosiers fans, on the other hand, are still in nostalgia mode regarding Mendoza, who won them the program’s first national championship earlier this year.
Barstool Sports personality Ella Grif made this apparent with a comment she made about the Raiders rookie quarterback on Barstool’s “Big Boys Club” show earlier this week
“I’m sad because Fernando feels like the ex-boyfriend that was so perfect that you’ll never get back. And you just look back on it, you compare everything to him,” Grif said.
“And also, even if we went undefeated this year… Even if it was the same thing and, we went to the Natty, it wouldn’t feel the same… That makes me sad,” she added.
Grif’s comments have gone viral, amassing over 1.2 million views in about two days.
If anything, this will make Raiders fans even more eager to see more of Mendoza on the field, given the emotional impact he gave to his former fan base.
And it’s now a matter if when, not if, Mendoza will assume Las Vegas’ quarterback job.
The 23-year-old should get his starting opportunity at some point soon, especially if the Raiders (who have lost four straight after starting 3-0) keep losing games.
