When the Jets kick their season off on Sept. 13 in Nashville, Breece Hall will be on the field.
So says head coach Aaron Glenn, who provided an injury update Tuesday on the running back after he suffered a groin strain during Monday’s practice.
Hall will be out 2-3 weeks but will be ready for Week 1, according to Glenn.
“It’s definitely a relief,” quarterback Geno Smith said. “We need Breece. He’s a big part of our offense and our team. He’s a leader on our team and on our offense. His presence is felt when we’re out there. We appreciate him and we’re hoping he comes back as soon as possible.”
The Jets signed the 25-year-old Hall to a three-year, $43.5 million contract during the offseason after he recorded his first 1,000-yard season last year, adding four touchdowns.
Hall has the eighth-highest average annual salary among NFL running backs at $14.5 million per season.
