Caleb Williams has avoided the worst in a massive injury scare.
The Bears star quarterback was carted off the field with a towel over his head in a non-contact injury during the Bears loss to the Vikings on Sunday but reports are now surfacing that he may not miss any time at all.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports that Williams avoided a major injury and could play this week for the Bears in their Week 3 matchup with the Eagles on “Monday Night Football.”
“It sounds like it’s gonna be a week-to-week deal,” Bears coach Ben Johnson said on Monday, per multiple reports. “Will likely miss time.”
Pelissero’s report appears to have a bit more positivity about his overall outlook for the next week or more.
It was reported after the game that Williams suffered a hamstring strain, and not an ACL tear as initially feared when he was getting carted off the field.
Williams going down with a hamstring injury isn’t new to him.
While at USC, Williams hurt his hamstring in Dec. 2022, this appears to be an injury of similar nature.

In the rain-filled loss to the Vikings threw for just 138 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.
If Williams does miss Week 3 against the Eagles, expect backup Tyson Bagent to get the start for Chicago.
Bagent is the fan-favorite from Shepherd University who went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, but played pretty well in limited action as a rookie before Williams arrived the following year.
