On a brutal day for American stars at the U.S. Open, Coco Gauff offered a bright spot.
Gauff, the No. 4 seed, rolled past Spain’s Cristina Bucșa in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the Round of 16.
Earlier in the day, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys and Taylor Fritz were all bounced from their respective singles draws, but Gauff, the 2023 U.S. Open champ, made quick work of Bucșa.
