A very strange and potentially dangerous incident occurred at the NASCAR San Diego Weekend on June 20 when a fan climbed down into the racetrack to share a fist-bump and brief conversation with No. 00 driver Sheldon Creed.
Creed didn’t appear too upset with the fan, who tried climbing back into the fan area after the conversation ended. This attempt didn’t end well for him, as the fan was apprehended by several federal agents, who arrested him.
“Probably boozing a little bit, and then he looks around and goes: ‘Are you guys still racing?’ I was like what, obviously? And then my spotter again said, ‘You better tell him to get out of there. They’re starting to head that way. So then I just started pointing. Did you see how fast he shot up the fence?” Creed added.
Don’t try this at home… or a NASCAR track… or a Naval Base… or all of the above.

Creed conveyed afterward, “I think he’s wasted. I didn’t even understand what he was saying. Please let the officials know we have no part in this guy,” according to an article from Nick DeGroot of motorsport.com.
Creed spoke more about this moment after the race, saying, “My spotter was like, ‘Ask him the damage.’ So I was like [pointing], ‘How’s all my damage look?’ He looks at it and he’s like, ‘Bad!’ And then he said something else. I couldn’t make out what he said.”
It’s hard to imagine that this presumably “wasted” fan will be able to spectate a NASCAR race in person again after pulling this stunt.
Thankfully, everyone involved was unharmed.
