The Yankees have four significant areas of need:
1. Multiple bullpen slots. Brent Headrick is currently their only healthy, regularly used 2026 reliever under team control.
2. Righty-hitting catcher. They never adequately addressed this in 2026.

3. Righty-hitting center fielder with a strong glove. Cody Bellinger and Spencer Jones are both lefty-hitting options. Neither is ideal. It would be more tolerable with a righty complement who can defend.
