Lucky Dodgers fan wins astonishing birthday present three consecutive years

For most fans, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s 50/50 raffle is a fun tradition. You visit Chavez Ravine, buy a few tickets, dream for a few innings, then head home without giving it another thought. 

But for one very lucky Dodgers fan, it has become something far stranger. 

According to a recent Reddit post by Katherine Ace, the lifelong Dodgers fan has now won a stadium 50/50 raffle on her birthday — July 23 — for three consecutive years, an almost unfathomable streak that has left fellow baseball fans trying to calculate the odds. 

The first time Ace won the 50/50 raffle was at Dodger Stadium on her 37th birthday in 2024, when she struck gold collecting a $25,515 prize.

She returned the following year, celebrating another birthday at the Ravine and somehow won again, this time taking home $10,940. Lightning had indeed struck twice. 

Then came the twist nobody saw coming.  

With the Dodgers on the road in Minnesota this July 23, Ace and her husband Brian were in Detroit and decided to try their luck a third time. So they bought tickets to the Tigers’ game against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park. 

And for the third straight birthday, she won the 50/50 raffle lottery again.

“I’m still in shock,” Ace wrote on Reddit. “What are the odds of winning an MLB 50/50 raffle three years in a row on your birthday? … I told my husband that we have to attend a baseball game every July 23.”

Unlike many fans who buy just one or a handful of tickets, Ace embraces a high-risk, high-reward strategy. She purchased 300 raffle tickets for $150 during the Dodgers’ promotion in 2024 and 2025. In Detroit, $100 got her 626 tickets. Her total investment over three years came to just $400. 

Her return on that investment was an eye-popping $44,620. That’s an astonishing 11,000% increase on her original $400. 

The Dodgers Foundation’s popular 50/50 raffle raises money for programs supporting youth sports, education, healthcare, homelessness prevention and social justice initiatives throughout Los Angeles, while awarding half of the net proceeds to one lucky winner each game. 

Reddit users attempted to calculate the odds of winning three straight years on the same day, with one poster estimating the probability at roughly one in 3.375 trillion. Whether that match is perfect is beside the point. Winning the raffle once is memorable. Winning twice is impossible. Winning three consecutive times on your birthday borders on baseball folklore.  

The California Post reached out to Ace for comment.

But if history is any indication, we know where Ace will be on July 23, 2027: Either at Dodger Stadium or another baseball ballpark purchasing more 50/50 raffle tickets for a chance at immortality.
