The Los Angeles Rams finally have some momentum after consecutive victories, but their injury report continues to grow longer than their winning streak.

Head coach Sean McVay provided updates on eight players Monday following Sunday’s 24-9 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, with encouraging news on two potential reinforcements overshadowing several fresh injuries.

The biggest development involved reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and tight end Terrance Ferguson, both expected to return to practice this week after extended stays on injured reserve.

Opening their respective 21-day activation windows means either could potentially return Sunday against the Washington Commanders, although the Rams could exercise patience and a multi-week return to play is still possible.

The news wasn’t nearly as encouraging elsewhere.

Cornerback Jaylen Watson aggravated the right shoulder he dislocated against Denver in Week 3.

“We’ll see his status as the week progresses,” McVay said, expressing optimism about Watson’s strength while acknowledging his availability remains uncertain.

Fellow cornerback Trent McDuffie suffered a knee to his back against the Chargers but appears to have avoided a significant setback.

McDuffie said his back is “feeling okay” and he’s “taking it a day at a time,” adding that he’ll do everything possible to play Sunday.

Offensive lineman Steve Avila also experienced hamstring discomfort against the Chargers, although McVay expects him to be available against Washington.

Linebacker Grant Stuard felt something in his hamstring during pregame warmups, prompting the Rams to proceed cautiously with the special teams contributor.

Meanwhile, running back Dean Connors suffered a broken hand and is expected to land on injured reserve for several weeks.

Tight end Colby Parkinson, who suffered a rib injury against the Raiders and missed Sunday’s game, is progressing but remains without a definitive return date.

For a Rams team that has battled injuries seemingly every week, getting Garrett and Ferguson back would provide some much-needed relief.

At 4-4, Los Angeles has finally climbed out of its early-season hole. Now reinforcements are on the way, but they will need to keep their current roster healthy in order to build upon their newfound momentum.
