LOS ANGELES — After the Mets extended their losing streak to seven games with another brutal offensive showing, Steve Cohen decided the time was right in the wee hours of Wednesday morning on the East Coast to post to social media the equivalent of a pep talk to the fans.

On his X account, the Mets owner highlighted the day’s positives, perhaps none larger than that Juan Soto started a running program in his rehab from a right calf strain.

If the two-to-three-week timeline the team gave for Soto’s return to the lineup upon placing him on the injured list is to be believed, Soto is no worse than halfway back.

Cohen’s other positives — such as Francisco Lindor getting two hits including a homer — were largely about the game the Mets had just lost and may or may not signal a turnaround. And fans don’t want to hear about a ball Marcus Semien hit to the warning track.
