Knicks fans know better than most what’s ahead.

They do.

Forget for a moment that there hasn’t been a championship banner earned since May 10, 1973. Lots of teams endure droughts. Have a talk with a Cleveland Guardians fan. Have a chat with a Buffalo Bills fan. Give a call to a Detroit Lions fan.

But the Knicks always have had a knack for making these things extra excruciating. There always seems to be a little extra oomph to the ouch, a few extra dollops of pain to double up with the disappointment.
