Many San Francisco 49ers fans were convinced their team was signing wide receiver Tyreek Hill earlier this week.

This is because Hill, who is an unrestricted free agent and nearing a return from a gruesome knee injury, made an X post on Monday that read, “It’s almost time to get off the couch and get to work 🥹”.

Given the timing of Hill’s post and the fact that San Francisco’s wide receiver room has been decimated with injuries this year, 49ers fans flooded this post’s comments section to tell the future Hall of Famer and five-time First-team All-Pro honoree that they’re eagerly awaiting his arrival.

Not so fast, 49ers faithful.

On Wednesday, Hill made another cryptic X post: “I think I’m ready for some cold weather”.

There are plenty of NFL teams that primarily play in cold weather. The San Francisco 49ers are not one of them, which seems to suggest that Hill isn’t entertaining signing with the red and gold.

Perhaps Hill will change his mind. After all, he spent the past four seasons playing in Miami and saw a ton of success in that warm-weather climate.

But him directly stating his preference for a cold weather destination suggests that he might already have a team in mind, and could even be in negotiations right now.

Regardless, it seems that the Tyreek Hill to 49ers storyline only lasted two days.
