This unfortunate Phoenix staffer, to borrow old “NFL Primetime” lingo, got jacked up.
Back-to-back WNBA MVP and Aces star A’ja Wilson unfortunately steamrolled a behind-the-scenes worker in Phoenix in a shocking scene Thursday night.
The staffer — it’s unclear if she worked for the Mercury, Mortgage Matchup Center or a media outlet — unfortunately decided to peek out from behind a curtain right as Wilson came running through to come out onto the court.
This round went to Wilson, the 6-foot-4 three-time WNBA champion and four-time league MVP, who sent the staffer flying backwards and the floor.
Everyone in the vicinity went, “Ooh,” and Wilson quickly stopped and her facial expression showed shock, while teammate Chelsea Gray behind her also flashed the same stunned look.
The woman rose quickly from the floor while someone asked, “You OK?,” and the Aces continued their trek, likely back to the locker room after the brief stop.
The fan who recorded the video told TMZ that the worker appeared to be fine.
The Aces ultimately beat the Mercury 100-82 to secure their seventh straight win to close out the regular season, and they are the No. 3 seed in their quest to repeat as champions.
Wilson led all scorers with 34 points and 10 rebounds, and secured her third straight WNBA scoring title by averaging 26.2 points this season.
She also averaged 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game in yet another stellar campaign for one of the sport’s greatest players.
The Aces (31-13) will host Caitlin Clark and the sixth-seeded Fever (28-16) in Game 1 of the best-of-three series on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
Las Vegas is aiming for its fourth championship in the last five years, with the Liberty’s 2024 title interrupting a potential four-peat.
The Aces swept the Mercury last year, and they have the second-best betting odds at BetMGM behind the top-seeded Lynx.
