Benjamin Netanyahu reveals he was quietly treated for early-stage prostate cancer

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed he underwent treatment for prostate cancer — but kept it quiet fearing it would be used as propaganda by Iran.

Netanyahu, 76, underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate in 2024 and said that in a subsequent follow-up with doctors, “a tiny spot of less than a centimeter was discovered in the prostate.”

“Upon examination, it turned out to be a very early stage of a malignant tumor, with no spread or metastases whatsoever,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

While the tumor did not need to be treated immediately, the prime minister decided to undergo treatment, which “left no trace” of the cancer.

“I went to a few short treatments, read a book, and continued working,” said Netanyahu, who is Israel’s longest-serving prime minister. “The spot disappeared completely.”

Netanyahu made the announcement Friday after he publicized the results of his annual medical examination — which he asked be delayed while Israel wages war against Iran and its proxies.

“I requested to delay its publication by two months so that it would not be released at the height of the war, in order not to allow the Iranian terror regime to spread even more false propaganda against Israel,” Netanyahu said.

The Prime Minister’s Office also released two letters from his doctors accompanying the announcement testifying to his good health.
