Europeans take in rare total eclipse as sunny holiday hotspots briefly turn to darkness: photos

Europeans in select countries woke up from their midday naps and took a break from their summer holidays to catch a view of a rare total solar eclipse on Wednesday.

The eclipse’s path of totality went over parts of northern Russia, Greenland, Iceland, Portugal and then Spain before ending over the Mediterranean Sea, according to NASA.
