Terrifying video shows an overcrowded fairground ride suddenly collapsing in India, sending dozens of screaming young riders hurtling to the ground.
At least 14 children were injured, two of them seriously, when the dragon-shaped giant swing suddenly gave way mid-action Monday, slamming into a nearby wall at an annual fairground in Madhya Pradesh.
Video shared online shows children screaming as they are thrown off, with onlookers rushing to help the injured sprawled on the ground.

The victims suffered fractures, cuts, and bruises, while others, who were left hanging off the ride, were miraculously able to escape unscathed.
The ride appeared dangerously overcrowded and unstable before its collapse, witnesses said.
“It looked weak even before the accident. No one was checking anything,” one onlooker told local media.
Preliminary findings suggest serious safety lapses in the ride, police superintendent Pratipal Singh Mahobia said.

Investigators are focusing on overloading of the ride, as well as the shoddy quality of materials used in its construction, according to local reports.
An inquiry has been launched into the incident, while a special team of police officer and engineers has been formed to determine how the ride collapsed.
