In a perfect world, the Knicks would be overwhelming their opponents with depth, their younger players would be developing and their starters would be resting.

But the opening two weeks of this campaign have been anything but perfect. What has transpired, instead, is an inefficient offense, a fatigued starting lineup, a depth issue at center and already a couple of reconfigurations from Mike Brown.

In the beginning, the coach wanted a rotation of 10 to 10 ½ players. He wanted Pacôme Dadiet and especially Mo Diawara to accumulate reps. But the schedule was difficult from the jump, resulting in an 0-3 start and triggering Brown’s competitive juices.

“We experimented with different stuff and our players not getting it done caused us to start off a little slow,” Brown said. “So, to get us on track, we’re going to hold the fort down with a veteran group of guys.”
